Eighteen investors were named as the “lead investor” in more than one deal in 2019. We look at this group as the top lead investors because they made more than “one passing bet” on the category. Many of them happen to have also led some of the biggest hr technology vc deals in 2019.
The list reveals a who’s who of the tech VC globally. Take note of Y Combinator, the American seed accelerator and investor that invests small amounts of seed funding twice per year. We tracked 14 investments in HR tech from Y Combinator this year. Early rounds are the hardest for startups to raise, and the bar keeps going up when it comes to investor expectations for product maturity/roadmap, revenue run rate, and market/customer traction. At the earliest stages startups sometimes have nothing but hypotheses for these KPIs, based on nothing but their vision.
